Similarly, while eating more potassium-rich foods is helpful for achieving healthy blood pressure, patients with diabetes should check with their doctors before increasing the amount of potassium in their diets. I am wondering if you had any trouble with plateauing after a few weeks. I have been on this for a month. Lost 7 pounds and would like 7 more off. But I have plateaued and cannot seem to lose any more. Suggestions?
Understand the general principles of diabetic dieting to better determine what requirements a detox plan must satisfy before being sound for diabetics. An article summarizing the view of the American Diabetes Association contains the statement: “Sucrose-containing foods can be substituted for other carbohydrates in the meal plan or, if added to the meal plan, covered with insulin or other glucose-lowering medications. Care should be taken to avoid excess energy intake.” Sucrose does not increase glycemia more than the same number of calories taken as starch. It is not recommended to use fructose as a sweetener. Benefits may be obtained by consumption of dietary fiber in conjunction with carbohydrate; as Francis (1987) points out, evidence suggests that carbohydrate consumed with dietary fiber will have a lower impact on glycemic rise than the same amount of carbohydrate consumed alone. Due to their high levels of dietary fibre, certain foods are considered particularly beneficial for people with diabetes such as legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables.

If you have diabetes or prediabetes, your doctor will likely recommend that you see a dietitian to help you develop a healthy eating plan. The plan helps you control your blood sugar (glucose), manage your weight and control risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure and high blood fats.
One gram of carbohydrates provides 4 calories. The current general recommendation is that carbohydrates should provide between 45 – 65% of the daily caloric intake. Carbohydrate intake should not fall below 130 grams/day.

The American Diabetes Association recommends against consuming large amounts of sugar alcohol as it can cause gas and diarrhea, especially in children.
Beta glucan: contains soluble fibers that help to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce the elevation in blood glucose levels by delaying gastric emptying so that dietary sugar is absorbed more gradually. Beta glucan is found in the cell walls of baker’s yeast, grains (e.g. oat bran, barley bran, oat/rye sprouts) and mushrooms (e.g. maitake, reishi, shiitake).
