Protein, protein, protein at every meal — especially breakfast — is the key to balancing blood sugar and insulin and cutting cravings. Start the day with whole farm eggs or a protein shake. I recommend my Whole Food Protein Shake. Use nuts, seeds, eggs, fish, chicken or grass-fed meat for protein at every meal. A serving size is 4-6 ounces or the size of your palm.
When it’s dessert time, if your mind immediately goes to a double-fudge chocolate brownie with French vanilla ice cream, maybe it’s time to retrain your taste buds. Fruit is the lowest sugar dessert option and it’s loaded with antioxidants and fiber. A helping of fresh fruit can help you lose weight and feel full. Don’t consume foods or drinks that have been in contact with plastic, styrofoam or nonstick surfaces. Replace plastic food and beverage containers with glass or stainless steel versions. Replace nonstick cookware with cast iron or stainless steel pots and pans.
Open the windows. According to the EPA, indoor air is “more seriously polluted than the outdoor air in even the largest and most industrialized cities.” To help exchange and circulate air inside your home, open your windows as often as you can and if you have a mechanical ventilation system, use it regularly and keep it in good working order.
The third is the FLC Quiz (or the Toxicity Quiz). FLC stands for Feel Like Crap. FLC Syndrome has a list of symptoms including bloating, gas, reflux, irritable bowel, joint or muscle pain, brain fog, memory or mood problems, sinus or allergy symptoms and more. Millions of us have FLC Syndrome and don’t know we are only a few days away from health and happiness.
Fast carbs are the most dangerous foods for people with prediabetes. They are quickly digested and rapidly absorbed, which increases blood sugar and triggers release of high amounts of insulin. This in turn can trigger weight gain, food cravings and fatigue.
The prevalence of prediabetes is also on the rise, as it’s estimated that almost 34 million U.S. adults were prediabetic in 2015. People with prediabetes have blood glucose levels that are above normal but below the defined threshold of diabetes. Without proper intervention, people with prediabetes are very likely to become type 2 diabetics within a decade.
However, somebody has to do it. Follow the 10 steps sugar detox for seven days. The first 2-3 days will be the hardest, but during the week you will notice that you feel better without sugar and flour. This detox plan will save your health and your body.
During my research, I discovered that after some people with diabetes have started to eat properly and exercise on a consistent basis, they reach a “wall” where they are unable to lower their blood glucose level below a certain point or their blood glucose spikes for no apparent reason.

Ctinkam – I wasn’t specifically trying to lose weight when I did the detox, I was trying to improve my fasting blood glucose numbers. However, I have heard that many “diets” stop working after 3-4 weeks because your body adapts to your new way of eating and your metabolism slows down. You might want to move to the Basic Plan discussed in the book where you start to slowly reintroduce gluten-free grains, low glycemic fruits, and starchy vegetables. Give your body foods it’s no longer used to processing, then do the more strict detox again. I have no idea if diabetic cleanse will work, but it’s what I would try. (Please note I am not a medical professional.) Are you exercising? If you’re doing cardio, you might want to add strength training. If you’re lifting weights, add yoga. Just do something different physically. That should help fire up your metabolism too. Good luck and keep us posted.
