I have cut out all meat, grains, white flour and white sugar and most solid foods. I make green savory drinks that I drink throughout the day and will eat seeds and nuts and drink water. I will make gently warmed broth based soups once in a while.
Cleansing of the pancreas supports the production and rebalancing of insulin and glucagon; and, proper functioning of the alpha and beta cells. Most diabetes programs fail to mention anything about cleanse and detox, but, to make matters worse, most diabetes programs fail to mention the importance of detoxing the pancreas.

Don’t hold the onions — especially red ones. They not only add great color to salads, burgers, and sandwiches, but they also score higher in antioxidant power compared with their yellow and white cousins.
So this 3 day cleanse is simply an adaption from the book I read. It really helped clean my insides so to speak! If you are unsure as to why a cleanse is helpful to your body you can read this post by my friend, Dr. Heather Manley: Get Clean: How and Why to Cleanse. All carbohydrates (either from sugars or starches) will raise blood sugar to a similar degree, although the rate at which blood sugar rises depends on the type of carbohydrate. Any sugar not used as energy will be stored as fat to be used as energy later.
If you are stressed, your hormones go crazy. Cortisol goes up which makes you hungry, causes belly fat storage and leads to type 2 diabetes. Studies show that taking deep breaths activates a special nerve, called the vagus nerve, that shifts your metabolism from fat storage to fat burning and quickly moves you out of the stress state. And all you have to do is take a deep breath. My Take Five Breathing Break is something you can do anywhere, anytime. Simply take five slow deep breaths – in to the count of five, out to the count of five. Five times. That’s it. Do this before every meal. Watch what happens!
This will be the case for the first 7 days, as it was the case for me. I lift heavily 5-6 days a week, and the first week, I could not finish my “lite” workouts. However, the following week, I was back to my normal strength. Now, I’m killing my workouts at maximum with energy immediately replenished after my workouts. I’ve found 5-7 days is the time it takes to switch our muscle over from glucose for energy to using fat for energy.
Unfortunately, our response to this is usually a drug, such as a laxative, to “force” the elimination of the fecal waste. But many of the other toxins are left behind and reabsorbed into the bloodstream attacking the tissues and organs, and producing their own pathogenic bacteria that diabetes detox the body’s weakest points.
