As you journey through your detox diet, you’ll likely find that simple changes such as drinking more fluids or eating more vegetables can have a profound effect on your daily wellbeing. In fact, it’s thought that the 7-day approach is an ideal way to experiment with a broad variety of new foods, recipes, and lifestyle habits. To build on that momentum, ease back into a less restrictive diet while adopting new behaviors (such as eating three servings of vegetables at lunch and dinner).

Sweet, juicy, and delicious, ruby red grapefruit packs more antioxidant power and more health benefits than white grapefruit. You never want to be in a food emergency when your blood sugar is dropping and you find yourself in a food desert such as an airport, the office, or in a maze of convenience stores, fast food joints and vending machines. There is no way to handle a true physiological addiction except to stop it completely. Addicts can’t have just one line of cocaine or just one drink. Go cold turkey. But you won’t have to white-knuckle it because if you follow these 10 Big Ideas you will automatically reset your body’s neurotransmitters and hormones. Stop all forms of sugar, all flour products and all artificial sweeteners — which cause increased cravings and slow metabolism, and lead to fat storage. Also get rid of anything with trans or hydrogenated fats and MSG (watch for hidden names). And the best way to really detox is to give up ALL grains for 10 days, too.

The American Diabetes Association acknowledges strong associations between magnesium deficiency and insulin resistance. One study showed Magnesium intake may be particularly beneficial in offsetting the risk of developing diabetes among those at high risk. (13)
Yep! You guess it again. There is just something extraordinary about filling up on raw vegetables and enjoying them with a wholesome and all-natural dip that can be whipped up in seconds, like the one seen here. Don’t forget that even though they are not shown in this picture, you can also enjoy enough fruit to satisfy your midday sweet tooth. If I were not cleansing, I would add a simple bean and/or grain dish on the side. All of these options are friendly to the diabetic, provided you don’t over do your intake of whole fruit.
