It has been reported that Aloe vera gel and its derived phytosterols have a long-term blood glucose level control effect and would be useful for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus. Aloe vera can lower not only the glucose but also the triglycerides level which are often high in diabetic patients. (7)
There will be times that you are in a bad mood, feel exhausted and/or have a headache. Know that these symptoms are temporary and that, in just a few days, the pain totally will be worth it because you will feel so alive and energetic.
You might be avoiding sugar, but whole-wheat carbs are still totally OK. “Dinner is when I like people to add another whole-grain in — whole-wheat pasta, couscous, or sweet potatoes,” Doerfler says. One cup of cooked pasta is considered a good serving size — take your pick and fill up.
The colon (or large intestine) is important to cleansing and detoxification because it removes the unwanted fecal waste and other toxins. Discomfort in the colon usually manifests itself as something such as diarrhea or constipation.
We can also find them in our food. Fish are especially at risk for collecting PCBs. Overall, there is definitely a reason why PCBs were banned: they are bad for your health. Yet, we can still find them in our environment.
Lymphatic vessels are situated intricately alongside blood vessels, relying upon body movement to move the lymph fluid around to collect and drain away toxins and dead bacteria through the lymph nodes and skin (pores).
Luckily, there’s very little chance that a diabetic who sticks with vegetables for juicing will become bored with the flavor. Many different vegetable juices can have a positive effect on type 2 diabetes, and these juices each have a distinct color and flavor. Moreover, vegetable juices can easily be blended together to create something that’s both unique and delicious.
Dietary fat and cholesterol infiltrate the blood and block insulin from making glucose available to cells. As the disorder continues, the pancreas weakens, and production of insulin diminishes until insulin injections may be prescribed.
“Good” fats. Foods containing monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can help lower your cholesterol levels. These include avocados, almonds, pecans, walnuts, olives, and canola, olive and peanut oils. But don’t overdo it, as all fats are high in calories.
Coconut is not really a cleansing food per se. It helps to slow down digestion, which can be a good thing. For someone who needs to slow down cleansing it can be a good addition. As mentioned above, it is being used for the non-cleansing options that were described.

For those who are taking the baby-steps approach to eating better, this list is even more helpful. Not only are these power foods high in fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins and minerals, they’re also familiar and easy to find. That means you don’t have to hunt down any exotic ingredients or shop at specialty grocery stores to find foods that will help you get on track with a healthful meal plan.
What does coconut oil and coconut milk do for someone who is cleansing. I have heard that it is a fat that the body readily recognizes…but can it still slow down the cleanse considerably depending on amounts eaten?
A lot of diet programs out there promote extremely restricted eating. Not 21DSD. That’s because a detox program program works by getting your body to naturally cleansing itself of substances that create negative health effects. That’s why this program works!
In the 1950s, the American Diabetes Association, in conjunction with the U.S. Public Health Service, introduced the “exchange scheme”. This allowed people to swap foods of similar nutrition value (e.g., carbohydrate) for another. For example, if wishing to have more than normal carbohydrates for dessert, one could cut back on potatoes in one’s first course. The exchange scheme was revised in 1976, 1986, and 1995.

Lunch or dinner. A perfect meal might include a portobello mushroom cap brushed with olive oil and baked, Butternut Squash Soup, One-pot Vegan Chili, Curried Chickpeas, Baked Honey-Mustard Salmon, or Black Bean Arugula Tostadas.
The process will be much easier if you have a support group. I set up a private Facebook group so that we could all share our successes and frustrations. If you’d like to start the detox at any time, please request to join the Facebook group and those of us who have been through it will be happy to answer questions and support you through the process.
I’m type 2 and road bike but I do notice if I eat to many carbs my feet start to tingle. How will this type of diet help me and still give me enough energy to sustain a 50 mile 15mph pace? I seem to tucker out with out the extra carbs. Do you have any suggestions?

“A diet with sugar and high glycemic index foods promotes all the leading causes of death in America,” says Dr. Fuhrmansays. “I don’t see value in cutting out sugar for a few days and then going back to eating it, but I do see value in cutting it out permanently.”
A study published in 2012 in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition showed that consuming cheese or yogurt might help prevent type 2 diabetes. In studying the diets of thousands of adults with and without diabetes, investigators found those who ate at least 55 grams (about 2 ounces) of yogurt a day were 12 percent less likely to develop type 2. The researchers theorized that probiotic bacteria in yogurt lowers cholesterol and produces certain vitamins that prevent diabetes. They thought the vitamin D, calcium, and magnesium found in yogurt could play a role, too.
While juice and soda taste great, they pack huge amounts of sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. Despite juice touting healthy aspects, it’s not as healthy for you as eating fresh fruits. In addition to dropping these two beverages, another one you should consider is coffee. The caffeine in coffee may be adding to small rises in your blood sugar levels. Take the no soda (including diet), no juice, no coffee challenge throughout November and see how you feel by the end of the month. First I tried the typcial low carb way to eat which worked for me years ago but this time it was not working for me…than I tried the raw foods diet and that was not working for me either…I thought I was going to have to live on water for the rest of my life.
Raw juicing: is an excellent method for helping your body to cleanse and detox to remove accumulated toxins and chemicals. And, if you want to magnify the benefits of raw juicing, then, follow a sound nutritional program.
Food Labels. Every year thousands of new foods are introduced, many of them advertised as nutritionally beneficial. It is important for everyone, most especially people with diabetes, to be able to differentiate advertised claims from truth. Current food labels show the number of calories from fat, the amount of nutrients that are potentially harmful (fat, cholesterol, sodium, and sugars) as well as useful nutrients (fiber, carbohydrates, protein, and vitamins).
Achieve reasonable weight. Overweight patients with type 2 diabetes who are not taking medication should aim for a diet that controls both weight and glucose. A reasonable weight is usually defined as what is achievable and sustainable, and helps achieve normal blood glucose levels. Children, pregnant women, and people recovering from illness should be sure to maintain adequate calories for health.
Flaxseed, psyllium seed, slippery elm bark, marshmallow root: reduce inflammation and irritation of intestinal walls to facilitate healing. Ground flaxseeds absorb water and expand in the colon, allowing toxins and mucus to be removed. In addition, flaxseed has been found to help lower cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
Also, make sure that you are eating sulfur-rich foods (e.g. organic eggs, fish, cruciferous vegetables, allium vegetables), because sulfur helps your cells to absorb nutrients, fight bacteria and build your connective tissues. This is especially important when you have reached “the wall” — that is, you have lowered your blood sugar, but, you can’t lower it any further or you can’t keep your blood sugar stabilized without increasing your exercise regimen.
I’m Shelby, aka Diabetic Foodie. If you have diabetes, diabetes detox for someone who has diabetes or just want to eat healthy, you’re in the right place. I firmly believe a diabetes diagnosis is not a dietary death sentence.
