Coffee. Many studies have noted an association between coffee consumption (both caffeinated and decaffeinated) and reduced risk for developing type 2 diabetes. Researchers are still not certain if coffee protects against diabetes.
Type II: People with type II diabetes may not have any symptoms for years or decades before they are diagnosed. Increased urination and thirst are mild initially and gradually worsen. Eventually, the person feels extremely fatigued, may develop blurred vision and become dehydrated.

Follow nutritionist Jay Robb’s (Everydiet.org) Fruit Flush for a healthy three-day detox for diabetics. Throughout day one of the plan, consume a protein shake every two hours (from 8 am until 4 pm) using whey protein. At 6 pm, consume a healthy dinner consisting of chicken breasts (around four ounces), three to six cups of vegetable salad, and a tablespoon of olive oil. On days two and three of the plan, consume fresh fruit every two hours (again, from 8 am to 4 pm) with a healthy dinner consisting of a protein shake, half of an avocado (for healthy fats), and vegetable salad at 6 pm. This plan comports with the principles of diabetic dieting by relegating your overall nutritional intake to healthy, slow-digesting carbs like fruits and vegetables while providing plenty of added nutrition in the form of protein, lean meat and healthy fats. At the end of the three days you diabetic cleanse have likely lost a few pounds without diverging too far from your original diabetic diet.
Generally, manufacturers of herbal remedies and dietary supplements do not need FDA approval to sell their products. Just like a drug, herbs and supplements can affect the body’s chemistry, and therefore have the potential to produce side effects that may be harmful. There have been a number of reported cases of serious and even lethal side effects from herbal products. Patients should always check with their doctors before using any herbal remedies or dietary supplements.
Starting with the Ultimate Herbal DETOX is a great way to start the process of healing type 2 diabetes. This program contains Psyllium, Wormwood, Aloe Vera, Ginger and suggests a diet high in the other herbs mentioned above.
Then, I picked up Dr. Mark Hyman’s book Blood Sugar Solution. In it, he explains how common allergens like gluten, dairy, alcohol, and caffeine affect our bodies, even if we’re not technically allergic. Certain foods are more likely to cause inflammation, which is a stress response that the body produces when we are fighting off something. A little inflammation helps you heal and then goes away, a ton of it hurts you and becomes constant. Inflammation and insulin resistance go hand in hand, and one of the ways to combat diabetes is to remove the triggering foods.
“A diet with sugar and high glycemic index foods promotes all the leading causes of death in America,” says Dr. Fuhrmansays. “I don’t see value in cutting out sugar for a few days and then going back to eating it, but I do see value in cutting it out permanently.”
Your efforts to cut back on sugar will pay off though. “In the short term, people will notice their energy levels improve right away and after a short period of time they will notice cravings and fatigue diminishes,” Doerfler says.
When discussing type 2 diabetes we must look at the signs and symptoms of diabetes type 2, possible preventative methods, and the foods and herbs you can use to reverse progression and get it under control.
The lymphatic system is also important to proper cleansing and detoxification. As the blood circulates, providing nutrients and oxygen to all parts of the body, the lymphatic system accumulates dead bacteria and toxins that need to be removed.
You may have heard that it’s best to set a modest, realistic weight loss goal. But research suggests that allowing yourself to dream big by setting a larger, more inspiring goal could help you achieve better results. Continue reading →
Onions are also a good source of fiber, potassium, and folate — all good for heart health. Onions’ high flavonoid content also puts them on the map for cancer and cardiovascular research as well as other chronic diseases, such as asthma. According to a 2002 study in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, having a high dietary intake of the flavonoid quercetin found in onions may lower the risk of these chronic illnesses.
Diabetics with chronic constipation tend to show higher blood sugar levels, so colon cleansing can help maintain levels. Blood sugars go up not only in response to eating high-sugar or high-carbohydrate foods, but also when the colon is stretched or distended. The cells that line the part of the intestine closest to the stomach send a signal to the pancreas when a meal has been digested. The pancreas then secretes insulin to prepare to move glucose to cells that need it. The pancreas also secretes glucagons, which activate the liver into releasing enough glucose to keep sugar levels from going too low. Diabetics either do not produce insulin or the cells in their bodies do not respond to it. Diabetics do produce glucagons, which can keep their blood sugars unstable. Bulky foods or large quantities of meat and starchy foods trigger this process, because they do not pass through the intestines quickly. Keeping the colon clear can help to stabilize the blood sugars.
Talk with your health care team before you start a new physical activity routine, especially if you have other health problems. Your health care team will tell you a target range for your blood glucose level and suggest how you can be active safely.
It is important for everyone to restrict their sodium (salt) intake. People with diabetes should reduce sodium intake to less than 1,500 mg daily. Limiting or avoiding consumption of processed foods can go a long way to reducing salt intake. Simply eliminating table and cooking salt is also beneficial.

Mint tea may be used occasionally during the lemonade diet as a pleasant change and to assist further in the lemonade cleansing. Its chlorophyll helps as a purifier, neutralizing many mouth and body odors that are released during the cleansing period. Stanley Burroughs states in his book “The Master Cleanser”, that diabetics can do the Master Cleanse, but close monitoring and doctor supervision should be had during the Master Cleanse.

While I have dabbled in gluten and dairy since the detox, I’ve noticed that I have more energy and fewer cravings when I avoid them. Though it doesn’t hurt to hit the reset button every once in a while, diet remains a balance, and making good choices most of the time is the way to get and stay healthy.
Eating carbohydrate-containing foods temporarily raises blood sugar and insulin levels. The blood sugar-raising effect of a food, called its “glycemic index,” depends on how rapidly its carbohydrate is absorbed. Many starchy foods have a glycaemic index similar to table sugar (sucrose) and those eating large amounts of foods with high glycaemic indexes are at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes. On the other hand, eating a diet high in carbohydrate-rich foods with low glycaemic indexes (eg. beans, peas, fruit and oats) is associated with a low risk of diabetes type 2. A high-fiber diet is also important in controlling diabetes and blood sugar levels.
Broccoli is a member of the cruciferous vegetable family, which includes other veggies such as Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, and bok choy. What makes this class of veggies unique is the high levels of sulfur-containing compounds known as glucosinolates. Perhaps better known for their potential anticancer effects, these compounds may also have a role in reducing heart disease risk and heart-related deaths. In a study reported in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2011, researchers found that cruciferous vegetable consumption was associated with a reduced risk of death from heart disease. Their recommendation: “Increase consumption of vegetables, particularly cruciferous vegetables and fruit, to promote cardiovascular healthy and overall longevity.”
Meditation: One of the parts of the body that we forget to detox is the mind! Meditation has been shown to ease depression, improve mental function, and reduce stress and anxiety. Meditation also reduces thought patterns or attachments to negative feelings that actually influence our physical chemistry.
A recent study I read talked about the positioning of children in areas of high-pollution, and that they were chemically predisposed to contracting diabetes due to the air around them (1). This is shocking stuff, because it takes what we thought of as the cause of diabetes and basically turns it on its head. It’s no longer simply about what’s going on in our bodies, but the factors outside our bodies as well.
When you fill your car with gas, and you smell a strong odor, that’s you being exposed to plenty of PAH. So, when you are going to fill your car up, make sure you take a big step back when the hose is running. This way, you can avoid that odor and you can avoid those PAHs.
thanks Alvin. I started doing coffee enema once a day. I fast every day from 9pm to 6pm of the next day. at 6pm, I only eat (non organic) salad with apple cider vinegar and I drink one liter and half of juice made of 2 organic carrots , one half of a pineapple (not organic), and 4 (non organic) kiwis. I did not do saline wash yet. I will do it tomorrow.I am trying to find a place where to get organic staff because I live in a little town in eastern NC.
This can eventually lead to various systemic diseases/ailments such as chronic fatigue, weight gain, high blood sugar, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, cancer, fibromyalgia, and Alzheimer’s.
Though it wasn’t all about the food. Stress causes inflammation, so a big part of healing yourself is to actively work on relaxation techniques. Detoxifying baths, journaling, breathing, media fasting, and exercise were all part of the plan, too. It’s also a lot easier to make better food choices after you’ve taken a few deep, calming breaths.
Supplementing with psyllium has been shown to be a safe and well-tolerated way to improve control of blood glucose and cholesterol. In a double-blind trial, men with type 2 diabetes who took 5.1 grams of psyllium per day for eight weeks lowered their blood glucose levels by 11 to 19.2%, their total cholesterol by 8.9%, and their LDL (bad) cholesterol by 13%, compared with a placebo.
