Doctors often use the full term “Diabetes Mellitus” rather than “diabetes” alone, to distinguish this disorder from “Diabetes Insipidus” which is another rare disease that does not affect blood sugar levels.

Vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and beans are good sources of carbohydrates. Whole grain foods provide more nutritional value diabetic cleanse pasta, white bread, and white potatoes. Brown rice is a better choice than white rice.
Food for thought. I am a type 2 diabetic and working very hard to figure out all the proper diet/exercise. I was on three oral meds at the beginning of this year and had insulin shots suggested as the next step. No way! I did the enemas far more frequent than I probably should have but tried colon hydrotherapy and within a couple visits cut Jardiance daily dose in half and fast forward to today, I’m on metformin only. So since January off two meds completely and still working on this third one.

Since carbohydrate is the macronutrient that raises blood glucose levels most significantly, the greatest debate is how low in carbohydrates the diet should be. This is because although lowering carbohydrate intake will help reduce blood glucose levels, a low-carbohydrate diet conflicts with the traditional establishment view that carbohydrates should be the main source of calories. Recommendations of the fraction of total calories to be obtained from carbohydrate are generally in the range of 20% to 45%, but recommendations can vary as widely as from 16% to 75%.

Fiber is an important component of many complex carbohydrates. It is found only in plant foods such as vegetables, fruits, whole grains, nuts, and legumes (dried beans, peanuts, and peas). Fiber cannot be digested. Instead, it passes through the intestines, drawing water with it, and is eliminated as part of feces content. Fats should provide 25 – 35% of daily calories. Monounsaturated (such as olive, peanut, canola oils; and avocados and nuts) and omega-3 polyunsaturated (such as fish, flaxseed oil, and walnuts) fats are the best types. Limit saturated fat (red meat, butter) to less than 7% of daily calories. Choose nonfat or low-fat dairy instead of whole milk products. This is a key point to understand because if your cells can’t repair the damage being caused by your diabetes, then, it will be difficult to stabilize your blood glucose levels. You may be able to temporarily lower your blood glucose, but, eventually, it will start to creep back up.
