Splenda is not truly calorie free; there are approximately 2 calories per teaspoon (compared to 15 calories per teaspoon of sugar!), so when utilizing in baked goods be sure to add 97 calories per cup of Splenda if you are concerned with accurate nutrition info. If you are not yet brave enough to try for a complete substitution, feel free to try the recipe with the Splenda Baking Blend (half sugar and half splenda), but it is worth trying the entire recipe with Splenda to see just how delicious “guiltless” baking can be!
A cleansing program can also include the use of enemas. Enemas are used for preventive medicine and to relieve constipation. Purchase an enema bag at your local drugstore. The kit consists of a bag and a tube. Fill the bag with water (to the recommended level stated by the manufacturer) and then insert the tube into your rectum. As the water flows into the rectum, it flushes the colon.
“Good” fats. Foods containing monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats can help lower your cholesterol levels. These include avocados, almonds, pecans, walnuts, olives, and canola, olive and peanut oils. But don’t overdo it, as all fats are high in calories.
Lemon Juice is a good source of flavonoids which are known for their antioxidant properties. Vitamin C is the most abundant antioxidant in lemon. Since it contains antioxidants, lemon juice helps fight free radicals in the body, thus strengthening our immune system. The antioxidant properties of lemons are supported in this study which showed that the lemon flavonoids suppressed oxidative stress in diabetic rats.
There is a reason why people who are under stress usually eat junk food. You should know that stress raises the cortisol level, which stimulates fat storage and causes hunger. However, de-stressing can reverse the whole process above mentioned.
Why isn’t vinegar a more widely known diabetes treatment? Because no one makes big money from selling vinegar. There are no vinegar pushers. No vinegar reps. Vinegar doesn’t make anyone enough money to even be widely talked-about in the diabetes community.
Basically, they act as “endocrine disruptors” to our body. This means that they alter the way our bodies respond to its own regulatory hormones. Ironically enough, the cosmetics that we use to look more alluring, attractive or even healthy do a lot of work to block our more “natural hormonal cosmetics”: testosterone and estrogen.
An article summarizing the view of the American Diabetes Association contains the statement: “Sucrose-containing foods can be substituted for other carbohydrates in the meal plan or, if added to the meal plan, covered with insulin or other glucose-lowering medications. Care should be taken to avoid excess energy intake.” Sucrose does not increase glycemia more than the same number of calories taken as starch. It is not recommended to use fructose as a sweetener. Benefits may be obtained by consumption of dietary fiber in conjunction with carbohydrate; as Francis (1987) points out, evidence suggests that carbohydrate consumed with dietary fiber will have a lower impact on glycemic rise than the same amount of carbohydrate consumed alone. Due to their high levels of dietary fibre, certain foods are considered particularly beneficial for people with diabetes such as legumes, nuts, fruits, and vegetables.
