I’ve kept the whole eggs in this recipe instead of using an egg substitute or egg whites, as the caloric value difference is only about 5 calories per slice and I find that the yolks are a necessary binding ingredient. If you are concerned with cholesterol (and the recipe as written only has about 20 grams per slice) try it with egg whites or egg substitute (3/4 cup) and let us know how it goes!
The majority of people with diabetes type 2 are overweight. Excess abdominal weight does not stop insulin formation but it does make the body less sensitive to insulin. Type 2 diabetes improves with weight loss programs.
In order to reverse diabetes naturally, remove foods like refined sugar, grains, conventional cow’s milk, alcohol, GMO foods and hydrogenated oils from your diet; incorporate healthy foods like foods high in fiber, chromium, magnesium, healthy fats and clean protein, along with foods with low glycemic loads; take supplements for diabetes; follow my diabetic eating plan; and exercise to balance blood sugar.
Plant-based Nutritional Program: Include plenty of green and bright-colored vegetables, herbs and algae as part of your nutritional program. Cilantro, parsley, alfalfa, and chlorella, are powerful chemical and heavy metal chelators. Dark green vegetables and herbs alkalize and purify the blood, making it easier for the body to rid itself of wastes with less discomfort. You can juice these, include them in salads, and/or mix powdered forms into water or juice for a quick and effective dose.
Fat Substitutes. Fat substitutes added to commercial foods or used in baking, deliver some of the desirable qualities of fat but do not add as many calories. They cannot be eaten in unlimited amounts. Fat substitutes include:

There is even a positive connection between avocados and diabetes: The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition published a study in 2008 that found that women who reported eating the highest amount of good fats — unsaturated vegetable fats, such as those found in avocados — were 25 percent less likely to develop type 2 diabetes compared with women who ate the least amount.
Data of one study suggests that ginger and garlic are insulinotropic (9) rather than hypoglycemic while overall anti-diabetic effects of ginger are better than those of garlic, at least in this experimental condition. Much better anti-diabetic effects of ginger and garlic may be obtained when feeding is with a normal rather than a high fat containing diet. (10)
Burroughs says the Master Cleanse can be modified for diabetics by using molasses instead of maple syrup at the beginning of the diet. Burroughs says “the molasses supplies the necessary elements for the pancreas to produce insulin.” He recommends starting with small amounts of molasses, and reducing insulin intake until you are consuming 2 tbsp. of molasses in each glass, at which time Burroughs says you should be able to stop taking additional insulin altogether. After you’ve stopped taking your insulin, Burroughs says, replace the 2 tbsp. of molasses with 2 tbsp. of maple syrup.
Vitamin D will help, but it won’t do the job all by itself! You’ll still need to eliminate sugars, carbs, processed foods as well as eat organic, fresh fruits and veggies often. Knowing, and doing are two different things, and if education worked we would have no tobacco industry and everyone would drink only moderate amounts of alcohol, whilst sales of fruits and vegetables would outsell pizza and fried chicken. Being human is a difficult and perhaps dangerous thing when trying to manage your diabetes.
Then, depending on your health state, within two to three weeks you should notice an increase in your energy level and a reduction in your cravings for the “dead” processed foods. These are indicators that your body is cleansing and detoxifying itself and initiating the healing process.
While sugar may play a necessary role in some baked goods because of chemical reactions that result in the proper texture, rising, et cetera, quick breads are a wonderful category of sweets for which the complete substitution of a low-calorie sweetener such as Splenda is not only completely acceptable from a baking standpoint, but for taste as well.
Beta glucan: contains soluble fibers that help to improve insulin sensitivity and reduce the elevation in blood glucose levels by delaying gastric emptying so that dietary sugar is absorbed more gradually. Gallivan, RD, director of the National Diabetes Education Program at the National Institutes of Health, has this kitchen tip: “Garlic has been shown to have many healthful benefits, including lowering the risk for many cancers. But the way you treat it while preparing a dish can enhance its cancer-fighting properties. A recent study showed that letting garlic rest for about 10 minutes before it is used in cooking may enhance its cancer-fighting benefits. Chopping or crushing garlic helps to produce the active compounds that give it the distinct smell and healthful sulfide compounds. But heating it immediately after it is chopped inactivates the cancer-fighting properties.”
Insulin then enables glucose to enter cells in the body, particularly muscle and liver cells. Here, insulin and other hormones direct whether glucose will be burned for energy or stored for future use.

Cleanse your colon FIRST! There are a couple of healthy methods you can use to cleanse the colon. The colon is vital to our blood levels. This may also be responsible for a 5 to 10 pound weight loss…maybe more.
The same principle applies to the human body – if you clean the filters (the kidneys and liver), then, this will help them to remove the buildup of toxins and waste and kill the pathogenic bacteria and parasites so that the body will run better.
An approach that has been popular with some people with type 1 diabetes mellitus since 2000 is known as DAFNE (Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating). This approach involves estimating the amount of carbohydrates in a meal and modifying the amount of insulin one injects accordingly. An equivalent approach has for people with type 2 diabetes mellitus is known as DESMOND, which stands for Diabetes Education and Self-Management for On-Going and Newly Diagnosed (diabetes). DAFNE has a newsletter and has received recommendation.
If you use certain diabetes medicines or insulin and you skip or delay a meal, your blood glucose level can drop too low. Ask your health care team when you should eat and whether you should eat before and after physical activity.
Lesson of the Cleanse for me: Incorporating a green smoothie each morning started me on a healthy note, a good attitude, a lighter “skip in my step” as opposed to eating my usual oatmeal/eggs. I think I may have a green smoothie Mon-Fri and enjoy a regular breakfast on the weekends. I also realized if I want to fall asleep without trouble I must eliminate the coffee in the afternoon and have tea or decaf. I am hoping I can have just a morning coffee without wanting more. 🙂 As far as the food I eliminated, I know I can not be a vegetarian full time that is for sure, I want meat! BUT I think eliminating it once or twice a week is a great idea because I feel the all the veggies could do their job and release toxins in my body without having to digest animal protein. So for the next two days I am only having some meat at dinner and will continue with the green smoothies and soup/ salad at lunch until the weekend.
In addition, avoid processed foods with added sugars of any kind. Pay attention to ingredients in food labels that indicate the presence of added sugars. These include terms such as sweeteners, syrups, fruit juice concentrates, molasses, and sugar molecules ending in “ose” (like dextrose and sucrose).
