Cinnamon is an excellent spice which is well-known for maintaining glucose level and improving insulin sensitivity in type II diabetic patients as stated in a study published in the ‘Proceedings of the Nutrition Society’ journal. It was found that after taking the Cr supplementation (a compound present in cinnamon); glucose, insulin, cholesterol and HbA1c levels were all improved in subjects with type II diabetes.

Add 1 heaping tablespoon of uniodized sea salt (sold at Walmart). Stir the mixture until the salt is completely dissolved, then drink whole. EFFECT: Immediate. Don’t leave the house for a couple hours, you’ll make a “mess” in public! WARNING: Drinking this solution in sections will not cleanse your colon. You must drink the entire salty mixture all at once! This step is NOT completely necessary, but it get’s your liver jump started without all the “gunk” in the way.]
Patients with type 1 diabetes need to take insulin. Dietary control in type 1 diabetes is very important and focuses on balancing food intake with insulin intake and energy expenditure from physical exertion.
Whole, fried slices, water extracts and juice of bitter melon have been shown to improve blood-sugar control in people with type 2 diabetes, according to preliminary trials. It contains substances with antidiabetic properties such as charantin, vicine, and polypeptide-p, as well as other unspecific bioactive components such as antioxidants. Metabolic and hypoglycemic effects of bitter gourd extracts have been demonstrated in cell culture, animal, and human studies. (17)
Popeye was right — spinach is good for you. You probably already know that it’s loaded with vitamins and minerals. A 1-cup serving of raw spinach or 1/2 cup cooked provides over 50 percent of the daily value for folate and vitamin C. At the same time, a serving of this nonstarchy vegetable is super low in calories (7) and carbohydrate (1 gram). A ½-cup cooked serving contains just 22 calories and 4 grams of carb.

If you use certain diabetes medicines or insulin and you skip or delay a meal, your blood glucose level can drop too low. Ask your health care team when you should eat and whether you should eat before and after physical activity.
When discussing type 2 diabetes we must look at the signs and symptoms of diabetes type 2, possible preventative methods, and the foods and herbs you can use to reverse progression and get it under control.
Common symptoms of toxicity include headaches, fatigue, increased allergy symptoms, diabetic cleanse aches and pains (particularly joint pain), and digestive discomfort. These symptoms occur when the body has become so clogged with toxins that it can no longer perform necessary functions effectively.
In all lists (except in the fruit list) choices can be doubled or tripled to supply a serving of certain foods. (For example 3 starch choices equal 1.5 cups of hot cereal or 3 meat choices equal a 3-ounce hamburger.)
Diabetes is not typically one of these things. We know “what leads” to type 2 diabetes, but it’s not all set in stone. There’s more to contracting diabetes than a high-sugar, high-fat diet and a low-exercise lifestyle. Although if you’re diagnosed with prediabetes, changing your lifestyle can push back against the disease.
Recent evidence reported by John Hopkins University suggests that consumption of dairy products by sensitive children causes the immune cells to respond with excessive aggressiveness to antigens in cow’s milk. These antigens may attach themselves to cells in the pancreas. Once attached, the antigens are attacked by immune cells that, in the process, destroy both the antigens and the pancreatic cells that produce insulin. Most people who have type I diabetes develop this disorder before age 30.
In relation to type 2 diabetes, eating most food earlier in the day may be associated with lower levels of overweight and obesity and other factors that reduce the risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

For the vegetarian detox diet, you just have to get rid of those vegetables that have high levels of carbohydrates including legumes, potatoes, and white pasta. Among the vegetables that you can include in your diet are broccoli, spinach, kale, and other dark, leafy vegetables as well as whole grains, eggs, nuts, and tofu as they contain only minimal amount of carbohydrates.
Simply going for a 20-minute walk 2-3 times a week will be a great start. It just a matter of getting the muscles to burn energy and that will trigger the movement of blood sugar and increase the insulin response. Building your exercise program up slowly into more cardiovascular exercise is a good idea. Using your limbs is very important, so rowing, cycling or working out on a piece of gym equipment will assist greatly.

Also, there’s little, if any, evidence that detox diets actually do any good. Some people do report feeling better when on a detox diet and that can be attributed to drinking more water, cutting out alcohol, caffeine, fat, and sugar, and even to being in a state of starvation. When someone is starving, he often feels more energetic and euphoric.
Lesson of the Cleanse for me: Incorporating a green smoothie each morning started me on a healthy note, a good attitude, a lighter “skip in my step” as opposed to eating my usual oatmeal/eggs. I think I may have a green smoothie Mon-Fri and enjoy a regular breakfast on the weekends. I also realized if I want to fall asleep without trouble I must eliminate the coffee in the afternoon and have tea or decaf. I am hoping I can have just a morning coffee without wanting more. 🙂 As far as the food I eliminated, I know I can not be a vegetarian full time that is for sure, I want meat! BUT I think eliminating it once or twice a week is a great idea because I feel the all the veggies could do their job and release toxins in my body without having to digest animal protein. So for the next two days I am only having some meat at dinner and will continue with the green smoothies and soup/ salad at lunch until the weekend.

Data of one study suggests that ginger and garlic are insulinotropic (9) rather than hypoglycemic while overall anti-diabetic effects of ginger are better than those of garlic, at least in this experimental condition. Much better anti-diabetic effects of ginger and garlic may be obtained when feeding is with a normal rather than a high fat containing diet. (10)
While there are no specific recommendations, most health authorities recommend eating 1-2 tablespoons of flaxseed daily, either in whole or ground (milled) form. Enjoy the nutty-flavor seed on cereal, on salads, or mixed into quick breads and smoothies.
For diabetics who are not eating properly and exercising on a consistent basis, their excess toxic load is definitely affecting their liver and other organs, preventing proper metabolism and energy production. Saccharin (Sweet’N Low). Saccharin is the oldest artificial sweeteners. Although early studies in rats indicated a potential risk for cancer, subsequent research has shown that saccharin does not cause cancer.
While sugar may play a necessary role in some baked goods because of chemical reactions that result in the proper texture, rising, et cetera, quick breads are a wonderful category of sweets for which the complete substitution of a low-calorie sweetener such as Splenda is not only completely acceptable from a baking standpoint, but for taste as well.
The Master Cleanse is a dangerous fad diet for anyone, but especially bad for diabetics. Burroughs’ advice is medically unsound and very dangerous. Do not change your insulin dose, and never just stop taking insulin — especially while living on a very low-calorie diet of sugar water. The master cleanse is nutrient deficient, and lacks protein, fiber and healthy fat. If you have diabetes and go on the diet, you would experience hypoglycemia, including such symptoms as dizziness, the shakes, anxiety, mood swings, fatigue, headache and hunger.
Try using beans as your main protein source a couple of times a week plain, in salads, in soups, or as a substitute for ground beef in Mexican dishes, such as bean tacos or burritos. Beans are good for your wallet, too — they are about the cheapest protein source around.
