In general, diabetes dietary guidelines recommend that proteins should provide 12 – 20% of total daily calories. G.I. Diet: lowering the glycemic index of one’s diet can improve the control of diabetes. This includes avoidance of such foods as potatoes cooked in certain ways and white bread. It instead favors multi-grain and sourdough breads, legumes and whole grains that are converted more slowly to glucose in the bloodstream.
Start by trying these first three days of the plan, and then use a combination of these foods going forward. Review the list of foods that you should be eating from Step 2, and bring those healthy, diabetes-fighting foods into your diet as well. It may seem like a major change to your diet at first, but after some time you will begin to notice the positive effects these foods are having on your body.
Type II: The most common form of diabetes, usually occurs in adulthood in people older than forty; but these days, the age number is getting smaller and smaller. For most adult-onset diabetics, the pancreas actually produces more insulin than is necessary, at least in the early stages of the illness.
Some people with diabetes need to eat at about the same time each day. Others can be more flexible with the timing of their meals. Depending on your diabetes medicines or type of insulin, you may need to eat the same amount of carbohydrates at the same time each day. If you take “mealtime” insulin, your eating schedule can be more flexible.
The two types of diabetes have similar symptoms which include: chronic thirst, excessive urination, excess hunger, muscle wasting, weight loss, fatigue, dry skin, itching, rashes, numbness, tingling of hands and feet, vascular degeneration, atherosclerosis, heart disease, retinopathy, loss of sight, kidney disease and gangrene, due to poor circulation.
