Eat organic whenever you can. When you can, avoid the Dirty Dozen, or the most contaminated fruits and vegetables: apples, strawberries, grapes, celery, peaches, sweet bell peppers, imported nectarines, cucumbers, potatoes, cherry tomatoes, hot peppers, summer squash and leafy greens, including spinach, kale and collard greens.
Fats: Fats are not the enemy. Some are better than other, though. Low polyunsaturated fats are good fats. They raise your good cholesterol (LDL) and encourage your body to use stored body fat as fuel. Try to avoid hydrogenated and trans fats. Fats do not raise your blood sugar.
Diets high in fat, especially saturated fat, worsen glucose tolerance and increase the risk of type 2 diabetes. Saturated fat is found primarily in meat, dairy fat and the dark meat and skins of poultry. In contrast, glucose intolerance has been improved by diets high in monounsaturated oils. The best way to incorporate mono-unsaturates into the diet diabetes detox to use extra virgin olive oil and flaxseed oil which have high antioxidant values.
Fat Substitutes. Fat substitutes added to commercial foods or used in baking, deliver some of the desirable qualities of fat but do not add as many calories. They cannot be eaten in unlimited amounts. Fat substitutes include:

With the majority of people diagnosed as Type 2 Diabetes being overweight, the most effective way to help reverse and avoid the disease is through weight management, life style changes, and most importantly, a healthy diet that keeps blood sugar levels stable. An important point about excess weight is that it is often caused by a high acid-forming diet which is why many people find it difficult to shift the weight unless they also alter their diet, not just in terms of reducing calories, but also to become much more alkaline forming.
For those who are taking the baby-steps approach to eating better, this list is even more helpful. Not only are these power foods high in fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins and minerals, they’re also familiar and easy to find. That means you don’t have to hunt down any exotic ingredients or shop at specialty grocery stores to find foods that will help you get on track with a healthful meal plan.

Vegetables. Exchanges for vegetables are 1/2 cup cooked, 1 cup raw, and 1/2 cup juice. Each group contains 5 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of protein, and 2 – 3 grams of fiber. Vegetables can be fresh or frozen; canned vegetables are less desirable because they are often high in sodium. They should be steamed or cooked in a microwave without added fat.

Another critic of the ADA program is futurologist and transhumanist Ray Kurzweil, who with Terry Grossman co-authored Fantastic Voyage: Live Long Enough to Live Forever (published 2004). They describe the ADA guidelines as “completely ineffective”. Their observations are that the condition, particularly in its early stages, can be controlled through a diet that sharply reduces carbohydrate consumption. Their guidelines for patients with type 2 diabetes is a diet that includes a reduction of carbohydrates to one sixth of total caloric intake and elimination of high glycemic load carbohydrates. As someone who was diagnosed with diabetes but who no longer has symptoms of the disease, Kurzweil is a firm advocate of this approach. However, Kurzweil’s prescription changed somewhat between his 1993 book The 10% Solution for a Healthy Life in which he recommended that only 10% of calories should come from fat and Fantastic Voyage which recommends 25%.
Honey offers numerous benefits to our body due to the presence of a variety of nutrients from enzymes, minerals and vitamins to polyphenols. This was supported by an article published in the ‘Journal of the American College of Nutrition’. In short, honey contains many health components that favor good health.
To an extent only, because diabetes type 2 is a chronic and degenerative condition which affects the whole body. Oral medication such as Metformin and Insulin injections help to control blood sugar levels; but it’s not a cure as the condition still progresses, and long term far worse health issues can develop as a result, such as heart attack, kidney failure, high blood pressure, stroke, blindness and neurological problems.
High fiber diet: It has been shown that a high fiber diet works better than the diet recommended by the American Diabetes Association in controlling diabetes and may control blood sugar levels with the same efficacy as oral diabetes drugs.
